Support for Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACoAs)
Understand the Past. Break the Cycle. Learn to Trust Yourself.
In our therapy sessions, we will explore:
• Healing roles from childhood (the hero, the caretaker, the lost child)
• Processing trauma, neglect, or emotional invalidation
• Understanding hypervigilance, control, or people-pleasing patterns
• Learning how to set boundaries and say no without guilt
• Reclaiming your identity outside of your family role
• Healing trust wounds in romantic and family relationships
• Building emotional regulation, self-compassion, and internal stability
Growing up in a home affected by alcoholism or addiction leaves invisible scars. Even years later, adult children of alcoholics often struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, control issues, fear of abandonment, or difficulty trusting others. You may feel like you’re always waiting for the other shoe to drop—or like you don’t know how to fully relax in your own life.
As a licensed psychotherapist and former medical doctor who provides therapy for ACoAs, I help clients understand how growing up in an unpredictable or emotionally unsafe environment shaped their beliefs, relationships, and self-worth. You’re not “too sensitive.” You adapted to survive. Now it’s time to learn how to thrive.
You’re allowed to be safe now. You’re allowed to take up space, ask for help, and stop living in survival mode. Let’s help you heal the child within—and support the adult you’re still becoming.
I provide therapy in Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Culver City, Mar Vista, Playa Del Rey, West Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, Palms, and Santa Monica.
