Academic Burnout Therapist
Understand the Struggle. Relieve the Pressure. Reignite Motivation with Compassion.
In our therapy sessions, we will focus on:
• Understanding what’s behind the resistance to school (anxiety, depression, bullying, etc.)
• Addressing perfectionism, procrastination, or fear of judgment
• Developing tools to manage academic stress
• Rebuilding confidence, self-worth, and a sense of capability
• Life transitions (e.g., middle school, high school, college prep)
• Strengthening executive functioning and emotional regulation skills
• Working collaboratively with parents and educators
• Reframing success to support mental health—not just grades
When a teen starts avoiding school or shutting down from academic overload, it’s often a sign that something deeper is going on. School refusal and burnout aren’t laziness or rebellion. They’re stress responses, rooted in anxiety, perfectionism, fear of failure, social challenges, or emotional exhaustion.
As a licensed psychotherapist and former medical doctor, I help teens and families uncover the root causes of school avoidance or academic burnout, and develop practical, compassionate strategies to restore motivation, build coping skills, and create a healthier relationship with learning.
Every student has a story behind their struggle. Therapy helps them rewrite that story—with support, self-understanding, and a path forward. Let’s help your teen return to learning—not from fear or pressure, but from strength and balance.
I provide therapy in Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Culver City, Mar Vista, Playa Del Rey, West Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades, Palms, and Santa Monica.
